Steps to Having Peace in Christ

(Some ideas taken from Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s Steps to Peace With God. Quotations taken from the NET version of the Bible.)

God loves you and wants you to experience abundant peace and life. “For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

However, we choose to disobey God and go our own willful way. This results in separation from God. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

God has provided a way; Jesus. He died on the cross for our sins. But it didn’t end there. He was raised from the dead, thus conquering evil. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

The ABC’s of Salvation

Accept that Jesus is Lord

Believe that he died for your sins and was raised from the dead

Confess your sins and ask for forgiveness

Do tell others about your new life

Evil is crouching at your door. Do well to avoid it

Follow Jesus. It’s not a one-time commitment, forever-lasting. It’s a day-to-day commitment to spend your time with Him.

Go into all the world and preach the good news. Perhaps God has work for you to do overseas.

Help others with what you have. Even if all is taken from you, God’s love for you is not taken away. You can still share that.

If someone doesn’t want to listen, move on. We are to share the good news with as many as we can.

Jesus can forgive you, no matter what you’ve done wrong. Ask him daily for forgiveness for your sins.

A-C is about accepting Jesus. D-J is what you do after you’ve made your commitment. It’s not that hard. But, you will receive persecution, whether verbal or physical, if you truly follow Jesus.
