Does God Have Time to Answer Prayer?

Some say God is already too busy, so don’t bother him. Others say you can pray to Him in an emergency, because He cares, but is otherwise too busy. Still others say that since God is perfect, He can adjust his time schedule to fit in all our prayer requests. But are any of these correct?

Problems for theory 1: -God is pictured as being

confined to time.

-Prayer is pictured as useless

(contrast Ephesians 6:181)

-It implys that God doesn’t

have time for us.2

Problems for theory 2: -God is pictured as being

confined to time.

-Prayer is pictured as being

a sort of 911; watch out if you

prayed and it wasn’t a an

emergency(contrast Ephesians 6:181)

-It implys that God doesn’t

have much time for us.2

Problems for theory 3: -God is pictured as being

confined to time.

-Prayer is pictured as being

kind of mean.3

-It implys that God has to go

out of His way to receive prayers.2

But fortunately, I know what’s correct: God created time (John 1:34) and so is not confined to time; He can easily answer a million prayers. God created us as well as a way to communicate with Him, so He must want us to talk to Him.

Why this theory is correct: -If God didn’t want us

to talk to Him, why did

He create a way to talk

to him?

-God created everything (John 1:34),

so he created time, so he must not

be bound by time. (Psalm 90:45).

-We can fulfill Ephesians 6:181.

As the song says,

Read your Bible, pray everyday,

pray everyday, pray everyday.

Read your Bible, pray everyday,

and you’ll grow, grow, grow,

and you’ll grow, grow, grow,

and you’ll grow, grow, grow.

Read your Bible, pray everyday,

and you’ll grow, grow, grow.

Neglect your Bible, refuse to pray,

refuse to pray,refuse to pray,

Neglect your Bible, refuse to pray,

and you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink,

and you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink,

and you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink,

Neglect your Bible, refuse to pray,

refuse to pray,refuse to pray,

The growing/shrinking part is about our spiritual growing/declining. Prayer is important for spiritual growth. That’s just one more reason why the above theory is correct. God wants us to talk to him.

1Ephesians 6:18 ‘With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit,…’

2Why did God make us then? Why would God make us if He doesn’t have time for us?

3Then why did God say through Paul (2nd Timothy 3:16) to pray to Him with ‘every prayer and petition’?

4John 1:3 ‘All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.’

5Psalm 90:4 ‘Yes, in your eyes a thousand years are like yesterday that quickly passes, or like one of the divisions of the nighttime.’
